Yesterday, Elizabeth and I went to Mass and we received our Ashes. This was Elizabeth's first time. When we got back to our pew and sat down, all of a sudden she realized there was something on my head, and her Nana's, her Nanny's and everyone else's for that matter. The look of bewilderment was amazing and quite funny.
We really had a nice time at mass and then a lovely meatless dinner at my Mom's house.
Later that evening, after Elizabeth went to bed, I got on the computer and was browsing the day's happenings on Facebook (because I am a nosy person) when I came across a post from a "friend" that read:
"So glad that Jesus died and rose for me! Because he did I don't have to rub beads when I talk to him and I don't have to have black ashes smudged on my forehead. We have a personal relationship that goes beyond rituals."
I have to admit, reading it I was a bit offended. I really felt that the post was mean and very ignorant. I did not say anything and just went past it, but I am still bothered by it today.
I am by no means a saint or the best catholic, but I find that this post hit at my core. How dare you cheapen my relationship with Christ by mocking the beliefs and rituals of my church.
For someone who is a "Christian" it was not a very "Christian" thing to do. I hope that this person takes the time to do a little research and learn the meaning of Ashes on Ash Wednesday and what Rosary beads are.

Same Story
I just realized that every year I say the same thing...that I am going to get fit (and there are posts to prove it). Man I hope this will be the year!
Get Fit
I am going to try to take up this blog again, for the umpteenth time. Lately I have felt as though I need to get myself, my whole person back on track. I seem to have fallen completely off whatever wagon I was riding and I have trouble recognizing the person I am today.
While there have been major life changes, like my little angel Elizabeth, with all that is going on with her, work, home and trying to balance it all, I have forgotten to take care of myself.
This year I am setting a goal to get back on track and find my self worth. I am going to try to document my journey as I try to find a new better version of myself. I want to have that healthy change of mind, body and soul. I want to feel good about myself and feel good about what I see in the mirror.
So, let it begin...wish me luck!

Lookin' like a fool with your pants on the ground!
The other night Andrew and I were watching American Idol. They were in "Hotlanta" looking for contestants. At the end of the show this old man came in and started to sing a song that he wrote. It went a little something like this:
"Pants on the Ground
Pants on the Ground
Lookin' like a fool
with your pants on the ground"
It was super catchy and even Simon thought that it could be a hit. It was hilarious! If you would like to see the clip, you can check it out here.

Happy New Year!
Goodbye 2009!!! Hello 2010!!!
What a year 2009 was, sheesh. All sorts of things happened. Micheal Jackson died, Tiger Woods an adulterer, Brittany Murphy died, Kanye slagged Taylor, Balloon Boy, Susan Boyle, Obama, collapse of the mainstream media actually broadcasting news, and the list could go on and on, and so could I.
So 2010, please let it be a year where our eyes our opened to the wolf in sheep's clothing; where we stop believing everything we are told; where we make independent choices based on facts, not promises; the year that we force change within our corrupt government; and a year that democracy and capitalism reign free. Let 2010 be a year filled with happiness, joy and celebrations. (this was not where I was originally going with this post)
(((steps off soapbox)))
Anyway, I hope that everyone has a happy and joy filled 2010. Happy New Year!
